Reilly Ryan read her first romance novel at the age of twelve. Her mother paper-clipped the pages with the sex scenes closed to try to keep her from reading them. That plan, while well-intentioned, obviously didn't work. She's been reading and writing romance ever since. She currently lives in Oregon with an ill-behaved tabby cat and lots and lots of books.

I wrote Ship of Dreams as my NaNoWriMo novel in 2007. I wrote about the Titanic because I've always been fascinated by it and thought (mistakenly!) I wouldn't need to do much research. I have been interested in m/m stories for a few years now and thought it would make for a nice twist on the "typical" Titanic romance of someone from first class meeting someone from third class and the drama coming from the fact that third class passengers were less likely to survive the disaster. I wanted to explore whether there would be comparable dramatic tension if both characters were men, who were also less likely to survive.
